Dear
Billawas,
"Billawas
Dubai & Northern Emirates", whose working
committee has just been nominated for another term
of two years has achieved a great level of success.
Today, when we look back at the achievements particularly
of the recent past, it gives us great satisfaction,
as we are carrying on with the noble objectives
set by us, with humble dedication. It was possible
only with the active participation and excellent
cooperation from each and every committee member
of BDNE.
Initially,
I had accepted the Presidentship with hesitancy
when it was offered to me during the formation of
lst committee in March, 2005. After completing the
first term of two years, I feel honored for being
President of BDNE as this organization has helped
several community members financially and morally.
I thank all BDNE Committee members for nominating
me and my team again even though we offered to step
down.
Following
objectives which were set earlier, are being sincerely
carried out by BDNE working committee -
-
Uniting all the Billawas in Dubai and Northern Emirates.
- Helping stranded billawas due to redundancy or
otherwise, in Dubai & Northern Emirates
- Render financial assistance to the needy community
members due to illness/accidents fatal or otherwise.
- Providing financial assistance to the poor people
towards medical treatment/house construction etc.
- Sponsoring scholarships to needy billawa students
to complete their education
- Extending financial help to the poor billawa girls
to meet their marriage expenses.
During
the tenor of the first committee, we were able to
implement the above goals to a great extent. As
assured by all the committee members at the time
of formation of the committee, I feel satisfied
and grateful for the wonderful co-operation extended
to me by each committee members without which it
would not have been possible for me to discharge
my role as President of BDNE. My role as President
of BDNE was challenging but I could do justice for
my post to a great extent. I attribute the success
to the following :-

Dedication of BDNE members towards accomplishment
of the objectives - mainly to render help to the
less fortunate billawa community members back home.
Our success can be measured by the team spirit and
enthusiasm demonstrated by the members.
- Humble and selfless efforts undertaken/initiated
by the committee members in conducting various events
during the last two years.
- Support received from the community members and
other kind hearted persons.
- Guidance and support from Billawa Balaga, Abu
Dhabi.
- Timely advise and support received from community
leaders and community organizations back home.
I
would like to mention the various successful events
held during the last two years -
- Annual Billawa Sports Day
- Annual Picnic
- Annual Pooja of Shree Gurunarayana Swamy
- Annual Day Celebrations
- Annual Cricket Tournaments
- Exhibition of "Koti Chennaya" Yakshagana
in Dec. 2006 for the first time in UAE.
Besides the above our major achievement is in the
field of rendering financial support including educational
scholarship to our needy community members. Since
the year 2000, a total amount of Rs. 11.58 lacs
have been extended out of which Rs. 3.0 lacs were
spent during the last 12 months alone. Our members
have also initiated and participated in numerous
other charity projects in their individual capacities
by using the BDNE platform.
It
gives me great pride to put it on record that we
were able to publish a colourful souvenir on our
9th Annual Day celebration on 27th October, 2006.
This edition of the souvenir helped us to introduce
many of our community members in UAE to one another.
It also helped us to highlight the traditions and
culture of the community to the younger generation
who live far from our motherland. Various articles
in the souvenir reflected the achievements of our
great leaders in the past besides, giving an opportunity
to various talented community members. I am sure
the above souvenir will be preserved by our community
members for a long time.
Our
official webside www.billawasdubai.com has given
a great boost to our efforts in achieving the goals.
From the feedback we are receiving in this regard,
we are proud to announce that whoever visits the
site appreciates the content of the site. Our special
