Mangalore,
August 22nd , 2010: The much awaited event in
Mangalore city Calendar , The Annual Scholarship
function of Billawas Dubai & NE was held on
22nd August 2010 at Koragappa Memorial Hall, Shree
Kshethra Kudroli, Mangalore.
The event was witnessed
by over 700 invitees which also included heads of
various Billawa Organizations in the district.
Around 232 deserving
students pursuing Medical, Nursing, Engineering
and other professional courses, received their educational
scholarships under the benevolent patronage of the
Billawas Dubai and Northern Emirates (BDNE).
The
students started arriving around 9 AM to register
their names with Guru Charitable Trust volunteers
in an orderly manner . All the guests , students
and their parents were served sumptuous breakfast
The
program started with a beautiful welcome dance by
students of Gana Nrithya Vidya Peeta, Malemar ,Mangalore.
The Chief Guests of the occasion were Dr. Vijaya
Prakash, Commissioner Mangalore city corporation.,
Prof. Thukaram Poojary, President Rani Abbakka Reaserch
Center, Prof. Adve Ravindra Poojary, Mr. Ganesh
Bangera .Trustree, Shri Guru Charitable Trust, Managlore.
Shri Mohan Attavar , President , Shri Praveen Kumar
Attavar, Vice-President, Shri Vittal Poojary Treasurer,
Shri Jitendra Suvarna, Chief of Advisory Committee,
Shri Prabhakar Poojary, Internal Auditor of Billawas
Dubai & NE were also present at the Dais.
Shri Vasanth
Thumbe (Secretary Public Relations) , Shri Deepak
(Joint Entertainment Secretary),Shri S.D. Amin (Committee
Member), Shri Nagraj (Committee Member) graced the
occasion with their esteemed presence.
The program
started with the recitation of prayer by Madhav
Anchan , the guests were introduced to the audience
and were honored with flowers.
Welcome speech was given by Deepak. Dr. Vijaya Prakash
inaugurated the program by lighting the traditional
lamp.
Shri Jitendra Suvarna
in his speech stressed the importance of education
and praised members of Guru charitable trust for
their selfless service to the society.
Four meritorious
students were honored for their academic achievements
with memento, Cash and certificate by Dr. Vijaya
Prakash.
1) Miss Shradha Suvarna secured 97.5% in II PUC
(Science) with Phs 100, Chem 98, Comp SCi 100,
2)
Ms. Deekshitha K secured 95.50% in II PUC (Sci)
with Phys 100, Chem 100, Maths 100,
3) Bharathesh,
III BE, III Semester SGPA 9.53, CGPA 9.33, IV Semester
SGPA 9.12, CGPA 9.24.
4) Vinaya K. Anchan S/O Dr.
N.T. Anchan Scored 97.20% in PUC (Science) &
98th Rank in CET.

Rs
80,000 was donated as Medical help to poor patients.
Eight patients were given cheques ranging from Rs.
10,000 to Rs 15,000 towards medical treatment.
Dr. Vijaya Prakash in his speech praised the work
done by BDNE in helping the needy back home. He
said that Billawas Dubai's deeds are praise worthy.
He lauded the contribution of Billawas Dubai and
NE towards uplifting the underprivileged and the
needy people in the community.
Mr. Thukaram told students to utilize the scholarship
money and not to think that Billawas in Dubai are
rich and the money that is given as scholarship
is hard earned money..
Mr. Prabhakar Suvarna in
his speech explained the objectives of BDNE and
the efforts put in by each member of the organization
and how the organization has grown. Speaking on
the occasion Shri Mohan Attavar advised students
to study well and come up in life and to help other
students in need after they complete their education.
He also said that Billwas Dubai has plans to set
up trust in Mangalore so that education scholarship
will continue without problem. He expressed his
gratitude to members of Guru Charitable trust for
their effort in identifying the right students by
visiting their house.
Mr. Jayanand M one of the
trustees of Shri Guru Charitable Trust explained
about the objectives of the Trust and he also shared
his experience as to how the families of Billawa
community are living in the condition of extreme
poverty in the villages.
By making professional
education possible to these students, the Billawas
Dubai & NE have paved the way to empower the
next generation of Billawas, for it is only through
education that a community can achieve progress
and development.
During the function Billawas
Dubai & NE distributed around Rs. 8 lacs towards
education scholarship and Medical Aid . Each and
every student was invited to the dais and presented
with scholarship cheques ranging from Rs 1500 to
20,000 was handed over to them by chief guest and
members of Billawas Dubai committee.
Shri Deepak proposed vote
of thanks and thereafter a sumptuous lunch was served
to everyone.

lunch free of cost, Dr. Vijaya Prakash, Shri Adve
Ravindra Poojary,Shri Thukaram Poojary , Shri Sairam
, Shri Ganesh Bangera for accepting our invitation

Charitable Trust for their efforts in conducting
survey by visiting each students home and for their
support in organizing such a good function.
